On the 5th of April 1937, the local Slaidburn Silverband played live on the BBC Radio in the studio at Leeds. For the band, and the inhabitants of Slaidburn, it was a big event. That day, every household was sitting around the radio, even the farmers changed their daily schedule to listen to the broadcast.
In our performance, we will play different scenes with little portable radios. Not only do we broadcast news items over the radio about the village of Dalehead that has been flooded, but also we have a short scene with our own Slaidburn Silverband. Below, you can see our yesterday’s rehearsal.
