You remember Joe Hodgson? He composed a couple of hymn tunes for the Slaidburn Silver Band, but he also hid tobacco tins in the dry stone walls. The tins contained written music. One of the tunes that is found is Burn Fell, named after one of the fells on the east side of Slaidburn. We have got a recording of the enactment in 1986, but the Slaidburn Silver Band played the tune for us a couple of days ago during a show in the backyard of Hark to Bounty. Our dear friend Jenny, from the archive, plays the cornet in this band for more then 40 years.
